They’re all misfits.Jay’s girlfriend has dumped him, and he’s on the verge of allowing booze to wreck his life.Sarah has a vivid imagination and is teased for a lisp she worked hard to overcome. Randy, a high school gangster, harasses Tim, a newcomer to town. They’re all up against Trell, a demon-like entity who murdered the occupants of a colony in the region in the 1640s.

Morgan’s Run by Colleen McCullough is action packed novel.

Trell has the capacity to compel others to fulfill his will, and as he draws more people into his cave, his violent urges grow stronger and more vicious.Meanwhile, the three must uncover Trell’s secrets as well as the history of the vanished colony in order to stop him. The tale sometimes wanders, but it works best when it keeps to the fundamental premise of the three misfits vs the demon.A subplot regarding Trell’s defeat is hazy, especially when it comes to his amulet. The concept of the amulet is introduced late in the novel, and its power is shown too conveniently in the end.Samuel possesses secrets that might aid in the downfall of Trell, but he keeps them hidden until the very end.

This is partially due to his inability to stay in the terrestrial realm for lengthy periods of time, although the reasons for this are never fully explained. Jay’s alcoholism is a major story point, yet other characters usually react to it in thinking rather than action. “Sweat beaded across his pale forehead, glistening under his blood-smeared lower lip.
